Succulents-How to buy them for cheap!
July 15, 2018 • Crafty, Create and Craft, decorating, paint
Do you know what the hottest decorating trend is right now?
Yes, you guessed it, succulents. They are everywhere. Real ones, fake ones, hanging ones and lots
more. I have a confession to make right now, I am addicted to touring model homes.
Whew! I feel better. I go into model homes, as often as possible to see trends and styles and to get
fresh ideas and also to dream a little.
Check out these decorating ideas from homedit
This post started when I was looking to purchase some cute little succulent plants
to make my space more trendy as well.
Heads up people, they are not cheap at all. I couldn't pay those prices and still, sleep at night.
I went on the hunt for affordable succulents and was surprised to find that the Dollar Tree,
yes, that Dollar Tree offers online ordering. Shockers!
Am I the only one who didn't know this revelation?
On the Dollar Tree website, they offer a lot more choices than in the store.
This is the 24 pack offered on the Dollar Tree website. I am not sure of the mixture that you may get. I will find out when mine arrives.
I found a 24 pack of succulents for $24, yea I know that's 24 littles fake pots of succulents but you
can give as gifts, use as table decor, make a wreath, decorate your front porch, make a mini garden,
the ways to use this 24 pack of succulents are endless. And trust me it is the cheapest way out.
My plan is to paint the little plastic pot white with a thin line of gold accent. Gold is another hot trend too.
See how Live Pretty on a Penny painted these plastic pots
I will let you know how my succulents look when they arrive.
So yall get on over to the Dollar Tree site and check it out. They ship right to the store also.
Hello!!
The NC State Fair is coming-Time to start planning
July 12, 2018 • Out & About
I know we are in the middle of summer but, if you want to go to the NC State Fair, it is best to start planning now. This year it will be held Oct 11th- Oct 21st. Ella and I went last year and had a blast.
I have lived in NC all of my 50 years and never attended the fair until last yer.
Why did I wait so long?
These are just a few highlights of our trip. Hope to see you at the fair in October.

Pumpkin milkshake with a slice of pumpkin pie and whipped cream on top, yea this just about killed me but was delicious.
Get several straws and share the love on this monster.
I love these kind of working trips.
Lunch from the White Plains United Methodist Church Booth. Great food, great cause and great prices. Don't get fooled by all this food vendors lining the midway, you have better places to eat while at the fair.
Check it out!! They have been serving food on the fairgrounds for over 100 years.
Beautiful pumpkins displayed all over the place.
We stayed last year at the Ramada Inn and it is within walking distance of the fair.
You can also ride the Amtrak train out of cities like Charlotte or Kannapolis right to the doorstep of the fairgrounds.
Here are my tips for surviving the fair-
1. Relax and have fun
2. It's a lot to take in and you may need several days
3. Eat from the church food restaurants that have been their for many, many years.
You will get better service, delicious food and you will be helping a local organization.
4. Have a plan but, not a concrete plan-Be FLEXIBLE!
5. Take breaks and just sit on a bench and take it all in.
6. Buy wristbands for rides in advance-they are cheaper this way.
7. It can get very crowded so, if you have little ones tag them with info in case they get lost. Have a talk with your family about this in advance. This just makes me feel like I've got it together. LOL!
Dress comfortably! Mornings can be chilly but by afternoon it can get real hot. Be prepared!
Ella and I really enjoyed the NC State Fair and can't wait to go again this year.
What are you looking forward to most about the fair? The Rides, the food, the displays?
A Sneak peek at The Southern Home & Garden Show
February 26, 2018 • Out & About
I visited the Spring Home & Garden Show at The Park Expo in
Charlotte and wanna to share a sneak peek with you.
This beautiful outdoor pond was designed and
built by Pond Country.
Oh, also they are opening a location in Mooresville sometime in 2018.
Beanstalk builders had samples of some of the amazing adventure parks and tree houses they build.
I just wanted to by one and live in a tree the rest of my days.
If the model is this adorable just think what
the real thing would look like.
I'm thinking a big tree along the New River would be perfect.
Get more info about Beanstalk builders here,
I am going to tell you that when I saw this Yurt I literally jumped up and down with excitement.
You wanna buy a yurt? Start here Blue Ridge Yurts
Ya'll just forward my mail here, I have found my home.
It is open concept for sure.
Privacy is not an upgrade you get here.
But hey, who cares if I am chill enough to live in a yurt then who cares about privacy.

They had a few design rooms mixed in the garden area and this one was my favorite.
I love to find my inner self and I could relax in this Asia Garden by
Check out his website for more info on all the types of gardens that they design, build and maintain.
And this is honestly why I come to the Spring Show. I like to
wander the gardens and look at the beautiful flowers that have been forced to bloom inside for the show.
Seeing the flowers makes me yearn for warm weather and longer days. Hope you get to attend the Spring Home & Garden show and find your own slice of spring.
Wanna Go:

Downtown Mooresville's newest restaurant-Come see how it went.
February 19, 2018 • #downtownmooresville, #Mooresville, Out & About
Since the day the Daily Grind closed in downtown Mooresville, we have waited patiently for a new restaurant to open. See my post here about Daily Grind. I mean, I love my small town and Main St is my happy place. I want the downtown area to be a fun vibrant place for us to go and we love supporting local business. We watched the banner go up that read " Coming Soon-Famous Toastery" and we drove by slowly and watched the progress from the windows.
Ella and I were downtown one day just messing around, you know this is a Southern term for killing time. As we walked by the future location and peeked in the window the owner came out and greeted us and invited us in for a tour. I was loving the new look and told him how happy we were for a new place to be opening. Fast forward to this past Saturday we made our visit to the newly remodeled building and now home to Famous Toastery. From the outside only the signs have changed and the building got a fresh coat of paint.

From the inside it got some nice upgrades, new lights, new kitchen,
new waiting area and new bathrooms.
We arrived about 1pm on it was packed downstairs and upstairs.
We stood and took in the new look for a moment and then we were shown to our table.
and put in new lights and it looks great.
I am sure they did way more upgrades than I am covering but, this is just the things that caught my eye.
Mimosa for the win! |
Right off the bat I ordered a Mimosa because it was a beautiful Saturday and I just wanted one.
It was good too.
They also have Bloody Mary's and other drink specials, just ask your waiter.

Eggs Benedict with grits and a side of fruit |

Keurig 2.0- Breathing new life into instant coffee
January 15, 2018 • Cooking
I gifted myself the Keurig 2.0 as an early Christmas present.
The best way to get what you want is to, buy it yourself.
I went with the mid size version and I love it.
I drink coffee thru out the day and I knew the Keurig was going to be the best option for me, to
making a new pot of coffee every time.
Pick out a K Cup to brew and drop into machine
Keurig makes a reusable coffee filter and you can purchase them here at Keurig's website
It only takes about 15 seconds to get a fresh cup of hot coffee
Just a few of the K Cup choices and trust me if you want a certain flavor, they make it
Check out Keurig.com for all the flavors.
They even have soups available.
It holds 48oz of water in the water reservoir which is plenty for what I need.
This whipped cream goodness is Ella's hot chocolate.
Let me just say that the Keurig is nice because Ella can make her own drink now, and mine at the push of a button.
Hope you enjoy your Keurig as mush as my family is enjoying ours.
52 Week Money Challenge
January 6, 2018 • 52 Week Money Challenge
In case some of ya'll don't know me, I love goals and reaching them gives this feeling of Super Woman with the cape and all!
So, when I first read about this challenge I was so down with it. We are in our first week of January and Christmas just passed.
We all felt the sting of Christmas bills on top of the regular bills.
Wouldn't it be nice to know that you have $1,378 coming to you at the end of the year? Take a few deliberate steps during the year to guarantee that cash.
Thanks to A Helicopter Mom for this cute printable to track your progress.
If you already saved some money you can also start with a $52 dollar deposit into week #52 envelope and go backwards from there. It is the same concept and you are still saving.
If you have a savings account you can have the money transferred
directly there each week from another account.
If you have a savings account you can have the money transferred
directly there each week from another account.
Put the money envelopes in a safe location and if you forget to make your weekly deposit or have to take from them one week it is not the end of the world, just make sure to replace it ASAP and get back on track.
So, what will you spent $1,378 on at the end of the year. A vacation, family, bills? Well if you save wisely it will be there for you.
Let's cheer each other on and if you are taking part in this challenge please drop me a message and let me know. Let's hear Cha Ching in 2018.
Happy Savings!
